If you’re dealing with hard water, iron stains, strange tastes, or just wondering what’s in your water, we can help. We start by testing your water, explain the results, and suggest only what your home really needs.
Your Water Touches Everything

Water Problems Show Up All Over Your Home

You use water all day without thinking about it, to drink, cook, shower and clean. When something’s off, you see it in stained fixtures and scaly faucets, taste it in your glass and feel it on your skin and hair. And most of the time, there’s no easy way to tell what’s causing it.

More Than Just a Nuisance

Hard water and iron wear out water heaters and appliances early, stain fixtures and laundry, and leave you buying bottled water just to feel good about what you drink.

Hard to Know What You’re Dealing With

Hardness, iron, chlorine, and sulfur can look and smell alike. Store-bought kits and one-size equipment often treat the wrong problem, so the issue keeps coming back.

We Test First, Then Recommend

You shouldn’t have to second-guess the water in your own home. We test at your tap, explain the results in plain English, and recommend only what fixes your problem. If you don’t need anything, we’ll tell you.

Water Treatment Help

Water Treatment FAQs

Can a water softener remove iron?

A softener can handle small amounts of dissolved iron. Higher levels usually call for a dedicated iron filter, and too much iron can damage a softener over time.

Can one system fix all my water problems?

Sometimes, but many homes get the best results from a combination, like a softener for the whole house and reverse osmosis for drinking water. A water test shows exactly what you need.

Do I need a water softener?

If you see scale buildup, spots on dishes, or soap that won’t lather, you likely have hard water, which is common across much of the Midwest. A softener removes the minerals that cause hard water and helps protect your pipes and appliances.

Does reverse osmosis waste water?

Some water goes down the drain to rinse away what the membrane filters out. Newer systems are much more efficient than older models, and we’ll help you pick one that fits your household.

How do I know if I have iron in my well water?

Look for orange or reddish-brown stains in sinks, tubs, toilets, and laundry. Other signs include a metallic taste and water that turns cloudy or orange after sitting.

How do I know which system I need?

Start with a water test. It shows what’s in your water, so you get a system that solves your actual problems instead of guessing.

How does an iron filter work?

Most iron filters convert dissolved iron into particles and then trap them in a filter bed. Most clean themselves automatically on a regular cycle.

How often should I test my water?

If you’re on a private well, test at least once a year. On city water, test whenever you notice a change in taste, smell, or color, or before you choose a treatment system.

I’m on city water. Do I still need a test?

Your city’s water report reflects water leaving the treatment plant, not what comes out of your faucet. Older pipes and plumbing in your home can change your water along the way.

Is iron in well water harmful?

At typical levels, iron isn’t considered a health risk. It does stain fixtures and clothes, clogs pipes and appliances, and can feed iron bacteria.

Isn’t city water already safe to drink?

City water is treated to meet EPA standards when it leaves the plant. On the way to your tap it can still pick up things like lead from older pipes, and many homeowners notice a chlorine taste or smell. A purification system adds a final layer of protection right where you use the water.

What are signs my water needs treatment?

Common signs include white spots or scale on fixtures, orange or brown stains, a chlorine or rotten-egg smell, cloudy water, and dry skin or dull hair after showering.

What can a water purification system remove?

It depends on the system. Purification can reduce chlorine, lead, sediment, and dissolved solids. We’ll match the system to what’s actually in your water.

What causes a rotten-egg smell in my water?

It’s usually hydrogen sulfide gas, which is common in well water. It can also come from a reaction inside your water heater. A technician can pinpoint the source and recommend the right fix.

What does a reverse osmosis system remove from my water?

A reverse osmosis system pushes water through a very fine membrane that reduces dissolved solids and contaminants like lead, arsenic, nitrates, and fluoride. Many systems also reduce PFAS. Exactly what a system removes depends on its certification, so we’ll show you what yours is rated for before it goes in.

What does a water test check for?

In-home tests commonly check things like hardness, iron, pH, and total dissolved solids. Some contaminants, like bacteria or lead, may need a lab test for an accurate result. Your technician will explain exactly what your test covers.

What happens after the test?

Your technician walks you through the results in plain language. If your water needs treatment, you’ll get clear options and upfront pricing before anything is done.

What is water quality treatment?

It’s any system that improves the water coming into your home, like a water softener, filtration, reverse osmosis, an iron filter, and more. The right one depends on what’s in your water.

What types of water filtration systems are there?

There are two main types. Whole-home systems treat all the water entering your house. Point-of-use systems, like under-sink filters, treat water at a single faucet.

What’s the difference between water purification and water filtration?

Filtration catches particles and specific contaminants as water passes through filter media. Purification goes further, usually with methods like reverse osmosis or UV treatment, to target dissolved contaminants and microorganisms.

What’s the slimy orange residue in my toilet tank?

That’s often iron bacteria, which feed on iron in your water. Treating it may take a well disinfection along with an iron filter to keep it from coming back.

Where does a reverse osmosis system get installed?

Most are installed under the kitchen sink and supply drinking water through their own dedicated faucet. Many can also be connected to your refrigerator’s water and ice line.

Will a filtration system lower my water pressure?

A properly sized system shouldn’t noticeably affect your water pressure. If pressure drops over time, it’s usually a sign the filter is due for a change.
